Problem Installing Palm Desktop software

Hope someone can help me with this

I put the CD in the CDRom drive.
It takes me to the start page.
I click on North America for Country.
It takes me to Installs for PC.
I click on Palm Desktop software for PC.
It goes through the install but stops 10% of the way through saying.

"The Installation has been interrupted. Palm Desktop software was not
installed before the interruption."

"Your system has not been modified. Install at a later time. Click
Finish to exit the setup."

I've already talked to the folks at Sony and they couldn't help.
I'm trying to install Palm for Desktop software from the CD that came
with the Sony Clie PEGSJ22 that I bought recently.

I've already done a regedit to look in the local machine to see if
there was anything from Palm or Sony at the software end.
Nothing there.

I've rebooted.
According to Sony, I should not have had this problem simply because I
hooked my USB cable up first without installing the software.
Nothing is in the USB port once I begin my install.

There are no other programs running.

If anyone has had this problem, please give me some advice.

How about some info on the system you're trying to install on ... your
experience, i.e., have you done this successfully before, are you
upgrading, is this a brand new device you just bought, etc.

Are you sure you have no other programs running? Some of those taskbar
icon's have an exit option that makes them go away but the program stays
running. I've seen this mess up installs in the past.

See if the icon menu of each thing you turn off has a stop program option as
well as the exit option.

Try going into the device manager and deleting any items that have a
question mark or exclamation point next to them, and then try to install.
I'd give you more info, but I don't know what OS you are running.

try 2 copy the complet cd 2 hd
maybe there is an error on the disk?
